I Went Viral 🕺🏼🦠💅

1 Million Views in 14 Days

They say one post can change you life. They also say all you need is $70k/yr to be happy.

Last week, I had an Instagram posts hit nearly 1 million views. And I've made over $100,000 in a year.

After hitting both of those, I don’t know how much either of those first statements are true.

As of Today (July 21, 2025), I have posted 64 pieces of content on a brand new Instagram page that features my face. Consistently, those videos were not gaining any traction and were barely breaking over 2k views.

I had a content series idea. What if I put glucose monitors on my friends that work at big tech companies in SF to show them all the free food they get at work isn’t really that good for them. I thought that would do well…

I wanted to combine it with a hook I saw the guys at SLAM & co doing to feature their members. It looked like it was doing great. They’re using what I call a double hook. They hook you with the “that’s X” person and then something about what they’re doing in the video captures the viewers attention. After that all you need to do is just do a half decent job telling a story. Bam people will stop, watch, and share.

Example of that, above. So that’s what I did for the first try for this new content series.

As of today, the above video, which was my first try, is sitting at 935k views (and a handful of hate comments). I was not expecting this level of virality this quick. Because of this one video my follower count has grown from 80 people (all of whom I knew), to 869 in 10 days.

Since that post, it made my account super hot. In normal people terms, that basically means there has been a lot of increased traffic to my Instagram page. Therefore, I have gotten a lot more views on my page because of this one successful video. Gotta love that Instagram algorithm. Conversely, I posted this exact same video on TikTok, and it only has 1,200 views. Funny how that works.

All because of this one video, I have drastically grown my audience in 10 days, but now I feel the obsessive desire to check my phone all the time for increased metrics and to do this again.

What's the point of me sharing this? While I want to take a moment and celebrate the success of trying an experiment and seeing it pay off. Also the phenomenon that we're all aware of already. That once you achieve success, you bask in the glory of that success for only a short period of time, and then you quickly become obsessed with further goalposts. Yep, that just happened to me.

It's funny, most people I talk to need distribution for a product they're building, and I have the dilemma that I can gain distribution but I have no product to sell. I think that will change very soon but I can openly admit that I am unsure what that product will be exactly.

My point is, just because you are not ready does not mean you should not start. The game I am playing is learning how to fold all four sides of a box at the same time. You can't wait for one thing to be ready to start the next. You have to just keep doing everything and balancing it all at the same time.

Anyways, that’s my late night brain dump.

Love you, Mean it,

Jared
